AFCON 2023 Top Goal Scorers- Golden Boot Prospective Winner (FULL LIST)
The CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023, popularly known as the AFCON 2023, began on January 13, 2024, with the final round on February 11.
Senegal is the reigning champions, defeating Egypt on penalties in the 2021 AFCON final. However, Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar holds the Golden Boot after scoring eight goals during the tournament.
Aboubakar famously scored Cameroon’s injury-time victory against Brazil in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 group stages. However, he was given a second yellow and a red card for taking off his shirt in celebration.
Sadio Mane will be looking to lead Senegal to victory again, but his former Liverpool teammate, Egypt’s Mo Salah, and Nigeria’s Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will have other plans.
As the knockout stage of AFCON 2023 begins to form, the Golden Boot, or the race for the most goals scored, is taking center stage following the tournament’s unexpected turn of events.
Initial debates and speculations about which players will compete for the highest goal scorer at AFCON 2023 have been nullified and thrown out the window as the tournament progresses, as critical players representing their countries have defied all odds and risen to the occasion of putting their country on the map and providing their team with an equal fighting chance to challenge for the continent’s most coveted title.
Who Is The AFCON 2023 Top Goal Scorer ?
Emilio Nsue Lopez, the captain of Equatorial Guinea, has the most goals in AFCON 2023, with five in three group-stage games.
This is uncommon, considering the 34-year-old plays as a defender for the third-tier Spanish team CF Intercity in Alicante.
Nsue is being deployed as a forward for Equatorial Guinea, and he has proven to be clinical and practical in that role, scoring his country’s first hattrick at AFCON in 16 years in a 4-2 thrashing of Guinea-Bissau, followed by a brace in a 2-0 victory over hosts Ivory Coast.
It remains to be seen whether his current form will continue until the round of 16 at AFCON 2023, but many are intrigued by the competition’s dynamics thus far.

The excitement surrounding the English Premier League 2025/26 season has hit a high with the official season fixtures released.
The new season, which will commence on Saturday, August 16, 2025, is expected to keep fans on their toes until the final matches on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Considering the welfare of players, the EPL body has made a series of strategic adjustments to the holiday schedule.
A 60-hour rest break between rounds will be mandatory for the first time in history.
This first-of-its-kind move also relieves frequent concerns about the holiday jumble so players can perform to their full potential across the season.
As a further gesture to player welfare, the league also made the pre-Christmas day a non-match day. The move is expected to be embraced both by players and fans alike, with everyone feeling fully in the spirit of the holiday.
The EPL 2025/26 schedule is thoughtfully designed across 33 weekends and five-midweek rounds to provide a well-balanced and evenly distributed schedule.
Starting on August 16, the calendar includes a large recovery period of 83 days for players from the end of the 2024/25 season.
In addition, with the final day of the season set for May 24, 2026, the league has the advantage of wrapping up well before the FIFA 2026 World Cup call-up window.
This gives players enough time to prepare for the biggest event in world football, the World Cup.
Such carefully considered actions demonstrate the Premier League’s commitment to preserving competitive football and protecting player welfare.
