The world bids farewell to Cissy Houston, a celebrated soul singer and the mother of the late pop icon Whitney Houston, as she passes away at the age of 91.
The two-time Grammy award winner, who once sang backup for musical legends such as Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley, passed away at her New Jersey home on Monday, October 7 under hospice care for Alzheimer’s disease.
Pat Houston, her daughter-in-law, revealed the heartbreaking news to The Associated Press. Pat shared how their family is grappling with sorrow as they mourn their matriarch’s passing, but also celebrated her unmatched contribution to music and culture.

Throughout her life, Cissy was a beacon of strength, faith, and family values. Her successful seven-decade career, rooted firmly in music and entertainment, will be remembered dearly by her family and fans alike.
Cissy began her music journey performing at church from a very tender age. She found fame as part of The Sweet Inspirations, a prominent backup singing group that included Doris Troy and Dee Dee Warwick. The group harmonised with soul icons like Otis Redding, Lou Rawls, and The Drifters, and even supported Dionne Warwick.
Cissy also contributed to Franklin’s “Think” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl,” and Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man.” Her memories with Presley were particularly fond, having shared the stage with him and even participated in gospel music sessions during rehearsals.
In the late ’60s, The Sweet Inspirations released four albums and had their own hit single, the soul-rock “Sweet Inspiration.” The group also sang for The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s “Burning of the Midnight Lamp” in 1967 and performed with Presley in a Las Vegas show in 1969.
After parting ways with The Sweet Inspirations, Cissy embarked on a successful solo career. With her exceptional talent, she became a sought-after session singer and recorded more than 600 songs spanning multiple genres throughout her career.

Davido Trends As His New Rolls Royce And Tesla Cybertruck Land In Nigeria (PHOTOS)
Once again, Nigerian singer Davido has made headlines for proving his status as a rich man with two luxury cars entering Nigeria: a Rolls-Royce and a Tesla Cybertruck.
The musician posted a picture of the trip on social media, his pure white Rolls Royce parked on the runway, ready for shipment.
Another photo depicted the Tesla Cybertruck being loaded into an aircraft to verify the truck’s arrival in Nigeria.
Cubana Chief Priest, another close associate and entrepreneur, also saluted the new cars with an Instagram image. He congratulated Davido on his feats, dubbed him the “GOAT,” and hinted at a festive December with new vehicles added to the singer’s collection.

Singer Davido Gibe Nigerians Over His ‘Nigerian Economy Is In Shambles’ Comment
Nigerian superstar singer David Adeleke, famously known as Davido, has taken to social media to extend a gibe to Nigerians over his recent interview with a U.S. radio station where he asked Africans in the diaspora not to return to Africa as things are not ‘’good back home.”
In the interview, the singer Davido firmly said the Nigerian economy is in shambles.
