Elon Musk is said to have “spiralled” after being booed during a comedy show.

According to writer Ben Mezrich, the Twitter CEO had a mental breakdown over mounting concerns that his reputation was tainted while operating Twitter.

“He got to a point where he locked himself in his office, was so upset that the Twitter employees were considering calling in a wellness check by the San Francisco police because they thought he was going to self-harm,” some of the “Breaking Twitter” writer said in an interview with CNBC on Tuesday, November 7.

“I think he truly cares about his reputation.”

Mezrich, 54, asserted that Musk, 52, is a very different guy than before he purchased Twitter, now X, in 2022.

“Twitter broke Elon Musk,” stated the nonfiction author. “Not only did he destroy this sort of global town hall, but he destroyed himself in the process.”

Musk’s purported mental health downturn, according to Mezrich, is the result of a sequence of unpleasant episodes that occurred last year.

Last December, the software mogul was booed at Dave Chapelle’s concert in San Francisco.

“You weren’t expecting this, were ya?” the comedian, 50, said Musk at the moment. Laughing, he said, “It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience.”

Elon Musk took to Twitter after being booed, saying, “Technically, it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that’s a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life.”

“It’s almost as if I’ve offended SF’s unhinged leftists… but Nah,” he continued jokingly.

Musk was “shocked” by the audience’s reaction, Mezrich stated on CNBC, adding, “This never happened to Elon before, and this spiral started.”

The blogger also claimed that Tesla CEO Elon Musk was influenced by his son’s attack by a “crazy stalker” the same month as the comedy event.

An unnamed individual wearing a black hood and a mask allegedly followed a car carrying Musk’s then-2-year-old son and “climbed” atop it in Los Angeles in December 2022.

The hooded man then revealed himself to be an Uber driver named Brandon Collado, who told Musk, “You have connections to me and have stalked me and my family for over a year.”

Musk, who has Asperger’s syndrome, opened out about his mental health in 2017, revealing that he may potentially have bipolar disorder.
