Pastor Tunde Bakare, General Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), has completely given up on his pursuit to become the President of Nigeria.

Speaking at the launch of an Independent Power and Endowment Fund at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos (UNILAG), as part of his seven-day 70th birthday celebration, the cleric, former president Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in the presidential election in 2011, said he does not have to become president of the nation but could make decisions about who does.

He had volunteered at his old college since his 50th birthday, and he praised God for the chance to repay the institutions that formed him.

However, he was uncooperative in his quest for good government, telling the world that he hoped for a better future for the nation.

He said, “I have done so in my hometown; I have done so in my primary school; I have done so in my secondary school, what a great opportunity to be able to make a difference… I have served God, I have served man. It is time to face it everywhere.

“God will help us to have the right people in the right place in the government. I don’t have to be president. I can influence who becomes. You can put a son on a throne and still need him to do what you need him to do. I am not looking for power. I already have power. I received power when the Holy Ghost came upon me.

“If Nigeria stands upright, everything will be okay. This is not an ambition. It is not about seeking political power. It is about writing the wrong and ensuring that the destiny of Nigeria is fulfilled.”

Bisi further added that an average man expects to follow a predefined path of growth, which includes teenage years through university level, to get a degree and a job.

He noted that he couldn’t follow the predefined path of growth, which was why he came out to declare his sexual orientation.

Bisi Alimi further said that his making his sexual orientation public doesn’t mean he did to throw a party, but rather to shun all expected people placed on him.

”I am not coming out to spite you; I have been gay since way back; I didn’t just become gay yesterday.”
