Meet The Country Where Students Don’t Seat For Exams, Only But After 9 Years

Meet The Country Where Students Don’t Seat For Exams,Only But After 9 Years
Has the idea of attending school without tests ever occurred to you? Every year, without any tests, just endless learning? While it may seem romantic, there is a nation where this approach to education is being used. It is the nation of Finland.
Finnish students wait until they have completed nine years of education to take formal tests, unlike many nations where students must take difficult exams at a young age. This is a result of Finland’s delayed adoption of official examinations. Exams are not the only thing that is impacted by this educational system in Finland.
High-stakes, standardized tests are not administered to students until they have completed their basic education, which usually takes nine years of study. The initial test is called the “Ylioppilastutkinto” (Finnish for “Finnish National Matriculation Examination”).
Typically, students who are eighteen or nineteen years old take this exam in the spring of their senior year in upper secondary school. The test evaluates their subject-matter knowledge and proficiency and is a major factor in whether they qualify for advanced study.
During the early years of education, the Finnish educational system aims to develop a love of learning, creativity, and critical thinking abilities rather than concentrating on exams. Students in Finland are currently able to explore a variety of disciplines without the stress of tests because of the country’s deferred exam policy.
Curiosity and intellectual development are fostered in Finnish classrooms. This method aids in developing well-rounded people whose knowledge, abilities, and love of studying define them rather than just their exam results. Exam delays have also been found to help pupils feel less stressed and anxious. Burnout and mental health problems can result from the pressure to do well on tests from an early age in many countries.
In contrast, Finnish students can build a solid foundation in their studies without worrying about tests hanging over them all the time. Rather than being driven by rewards or penalties from outside sources, these pupils are motivated by their interests and curiosities.
This internal drive results in a sincere desire to study and investigate topics, which improves the educational process as a whole. This methodology has shown to be very effective throughout the years, and even highly trained Finnish teachers can modify their lessons to meet the needs of individual students.

He noted that he couldn’t follow the predefined path of growth, which was why he came out to declare his sexual orientation.
