Nigerian Chess Master Tunde Onakoya Sets New World Record After Surpassing Previous Record Holders

In a remarkable achievement on Saturday, Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya set a new Guinness World Record for the longest consecutive chess marathon.

He told his fans about the exciting news on his official X account and said he was determined to break the record at 60 hours. He also stressed that he was doing this for a good cause: to raise money for the schooling of needy African children worldwide.

Norwegian players had set the previous record of 56 hours and 9 minutes, which Tunde beat. The race took place in New York City’s famous Times Square.

Working with his US partner Shawn Martinez, a national master, Tunde wanted to break the record and bring attention to giving poor African children a chance to go to school.

Martinez joined the two after 23 hours of play, and they kept going with their plan. Notable people, like Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and singers Davido and Adekunle Gold, helped them.

Once again, Nigerian singer Davido has made headlines for proving his status as a rich man with two luxury cars entering Nigeria: a Rolls-Royce and a Tesla Cybertruck.

The musician posted a picture of the trip on social media, his pure white Rolls Royce parked on the runway, ready for shipment.
