30-Year-Old British-Nigerian Bags 12 Years Imprisonment In The UK After R@ping A Woman On Her Way Home

Abiola Tijani, a 30-year-old British-Nigerian man, was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to r@ping a stranger in Sheffield.

Tijani, of Cherry Street, Sheffield, was sentenced to 12 years and three months in prison on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Sheffield Crown Court, of which eight years and three months are custodial and four years are on licence.

The Court heard how, in the early hours of Saturday, July 29, Tijani followed the victim as she walked home, frequently attempting to engage in conversation with her.

Tijani then seized the woman and pushed her against some railings before raping her, according to the Court.

Tijani was also served with a lifetime restraining order barring him from having any contact with the victim.

“No sentence I pass will undo the harm you caused or be considered adequate,” the Judge declared as he passed sentencing. This is every woman’s greatest nightmare.”

“The victim has shown great bravery during this case,” says Police Constable Sarah Frith, the officer in charge of this case. I applaud her for the courage she had in supporting a prosecution. South Yorkshire Police takes every accusation of rape seriously, and we hope that this sentence goes some way towards giving the victim the justice she deserves.”

Tijani pleaded guilty on September 8 at Sheffield Crown Court and was remanded in custody.

    It’s a sad story, which shows the lack of restraint our youths have towards anything ethical and morally wrong!
    The punishment is deserved, personally I want stricter and stronger punishment for rape and kidnapping.
    Meanwhile, I these oyinbo people will tag the nationality of any offender but will claim full citizenship for our well to do artistes, actors,athletes, and professionals!
