Nigerian Man Dies 24 Hours After Relocating To The UK For His Masters Degree

A Nigerian man identified as Saheed Wahab, has reportedly died a day after coming to the United Kingdom to pursue his masters degree.

Wahab, a student at Teesside University in the United Kingdom, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

The death was verified in a statement issued by the Nigerians in the UK Community and uploaded on the group’s official X (previously Twitter) page.

The statement said, “Following the tragic news of the death of Mr Saheed Wahab, a student at Teesside University who died a day after arriving in the United Kingdom from Nigeria.

“He was in Teesside to begin his MSc qualification but passed away on Tuesday afternoon (January 16).

“May Almighty Allah forgive his sins and accept his return.”

The community said it contacted the deceased’s relatives to prepare for the funeral.

According to the statement, “We contacted his wife and family members in Nigeria, and they have granted us permission to act on their behalf and plan a burial ceremony for him here in the United Kingdom.

“We’ve also been able to contact the coroner where his remains are.”

His Janazah (funeral) arrangements have been arranged for Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Jamia Masjid Al Madina, 133a Waterloo Rd, Middlesbrough TS1 3JB.
