France Joins Canada, United Kingdom To Prohibits Nigerian Students, Others From Bringing Families

The French parliament passed a bill prohibiting Nigerian students and others from bringing their families to FraParliamentmeasure was supported by the far-right National Rally of Marine Le Pen, the deputy of the French National Assembly, and the centrist Renaissance party of President Emmanuel Macron, according to a report released by the BBC on Thursday.
Last week, the National Rally and the left opposed a prior proposal, which was rejected by parliament. Parliament revised the measure in response, toughening up some of its provisions.
Migrants’ access to social benefits is delayed, and the new, stricter immigration laws hamper their ability to bring family members to France.

Ms. Le Pen praised the revised legislation, referring to it as an “ideological victory” for the far right.
Right-wing Republican leader Eric Ciotti declared, “This is our bill.” It was deemed “firm and courageous” by him.
However, some on the left claimed that Mr. Macron was aiding the far-right. Leader of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure declared, “Those who betrayed their convictions will be remembered by history.”
Paris and 32 other departments out of France’s 101 said they will not carry out the law’s provisions on benefits for non-citizens.
The French referendum took place hours before an EU agreement to restructure the asylum system in all 27 of the bloc’s members was reached.
Members of the European Parliament and EU countries reached a new agreement that calls for establishing border detention centers and the expeditious repatriation of individuals who are denied asylum.

The new method permits the relocation of asylum seekers from southern member states with the highest number of entries to other nations. It was hailed as a historic accord by Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
The official approval of the ParliamParliamentmber states is still required.
The new French legislation revealed the governing alliance’s internal fissures.
Almost 25% of the MPs who supported Macron abstained, making up 27 of the 32 who voted against.
Aurélien Rousseau, the health minister, resigned in protest over the immigration law despite having once been a member of the Communist Party.
Yaël Braun-Pivet, the president of the lower house of parliamParliamentmember of Mr. Macron’s party, stated, “There are some measures in the bill that make me very uncomfortable.”
If Ms. Le Pen’s party had abstained, the law would have passed; however, if it had voted against it, it would not have. The government claimed it was independent of National Rally votes by pointing to the extent of its majority.
After the voting, the prime minister acknowledged that some of the law’s provisions might not be constitutional.
She said on French radio, “We will ask the Constitutional Council,” a high court that preserves the constitution’s values.
Yet again ! France prohibits Nigerians, others from bring families !!! Who is next ????
