Taiwo found work as a health care assistant nurse at a Cambridge care home. Still, her husband, a trained civil engineer, needed help finding work. He worked at Tesco and Wickes, and there were bill-related problems.

He was condemned on May 9, 2024, at Ipswich Crown Court for murdering Taiwo on November 28, 2023, at their Exning Roadhouse in Newmarket, Suffolk, a day after being released on bail by police.

He altered his plea to guilty on the third day of his trial last month after first denying murder.

Before sentencing Abodunde to life in prison, Judge Martyn Levett called the attack ‘cold-blooded and cruel.’

Mr Levett determined that he should serve at least 17 years in jail before being considered for release.

During the trial last month, prosecutor Stephen Spence claimed Abodunde was a jealous man who accused his wife of having affairs during their marriage.

He also informed the court that both sides had bill and money conflicts, frequent confrontations, and violence.

Suffolk Police submitted themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) by routine practice.

Suffolk Police Detective Inspector Dan Connick stated, “I hope this sentence provides some comfort and reassurance to those most affected by the murder of Taiwo Abodunde, particularly her family and friends.”

“Our thoughts remain with the family and all those who knew Taiwo.”

Bisi further added that an average man expects to follow a predefined path of growth, which includes teenage years through university level, to get a degree and a job.

He noted that he couldn’t follow the predefined path of growth, which was why he came out to declare his sexual orientation.

”I am not coming out to spite you; I have been gay since way back; I didn’t just become gay yesterday.”
